Isaiah 58:10 states devote yourselves on behalf of the hungry, satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness
Darkness is hidden in the brightness of our compassion
We are light’s companion
We share our light to highlight others
The joy we carry is contagious
We made the connection to caring
We reached for an empty hand and filled it
Smiles are freely given, welcomed, like a nonverbal invitation to a moment of peace
We try to energize potential
We are neighbors feeding neighbors
This thoughtful echo of support is a natural melody

That’s why 35 years later our heart work continues
Help has no expiration date
The journey to support people cannot be done in one trip
